Kirsty Lohman is a Surrey Research Fellow in the Department of Sociology, University of Surrey. Her research interests include musical and cultural participation, gender, sexuality, feminism and political engagement. She has conducted research on queer and feminist punk, punk in The Netherlands, and issues of place and space in queer communities. Her first book The Connected Lives of Dutch Punks: Contesting Subcultural Boundaries is available from Palgrave Macmillan. She is also a member of the Subcultures Network and a founding member of Sex, Gender and Sexuality research group at the University of Surrey. She has played in feminist, anarcho, and queer punk bands Not Right and Die Wrecked. She has contributed to zines, including Not Right (issues 1-7), Revolt (issues 1-4), and Riot Grrrl UK 2013, ran Coventry’s feminist punk night Revolt and Leamington Spa’s queer punk festival Femmington Spa Fest.
