Daniel Brito (born in the sixth most violent country in the world: Ecuador; resident of the historic southern neighbourhood: Chillogallo) is a PhD candidate in Communication at the Simón Bolívar Andean University (Quito). He holds a master's degree in Audiovisual Communication and a bachelor's degree in Advertising Graphic Design.

His research focuses on audiovisual languages, media literacy, digital disinformation, and the intersections between popular culture, identity, visual culture, and power in media systems. He has developed a sustained practice of visual research through photography and ethnographic observation. As a straight edge punk for almost two decades and a football fan, he documented the identity and rituality of organised fan groups. This work resulted in the first Ecuadorian photography book to be permanently displayed at the Football Museum in São Paulo, Brazil, contributing to the visual documentation of Latin American popular culture.

He has worked as a university lecturer, researcher and communications consultant in Ecuador and internationally. His ORCID profile is available at: https://orcid.org/0000-0001-9076-7026
